The article is devoted to improving the quality of professional training of highly
qualified specialists. The issues of professionally oriented foreign language training for future technical
specialists are considered. The relevance of the topic is due to the acute shortage of engineers of a new
type. In this regard, foreign language training of future engineers based on a competency-based approach
is recognized as one of the priority areas of professionally oriented training. Practical experience in the
formation of a competence-based model of professional training of specialists using new forms of
organization of the educational process is summarized. As a result, the idea is substantiated that nontraditional methods of involving students in solving professional tasks contribute not only to the
development of scientific and professional speech, but also to the formation of integrative professional
thinking, axiological potential of a future specialist, which is the key to professional success and career
growth.
