ARTISTIC REPRESENTATION OF MEMORY AND TRADITION IN THE PORTRAIT GENRE

The article examines the specifics of the portrait genre in the contemporary art of Central Asia. The study is based on an analysis of the works of a number of artists, including Nurlan Kilibayev, Agymsala Duzelkhanov, Meirzhan Nurgozhin, Ali Baktygerev, Zhanybek Berdikeev, Guncha Myradova, Daubai Ulan, Sabir Rakhmetov and Gulzhamal Tagenova. Special attention is paid to the role of the portrait as a means not only to actualize individuality, but also to express national identity, ethnocultural traditions and the mood of memory. The results of the study showed that the portrait remains an actual form of artistic expression, combining personal and collective, and also acts as a tool for preserving cultural heritage in a modern context.
