Abstract

The article analyzes various fates of persecuted religious representatives of the
Southern region and the city of Shymkent in the Soviet period on the basis of archival materials. In
addition, the researcher strives to reveal the atheistic policy of the totalitarian government, anti-Islamic
actions based on the materials of the unique Kazakh press of that period - the newspapers "Enbekshi
Kazakh" and "Socialist Kazakhstan".Also, using the materials of the Presidential Archive of the Republic
of Kazakhstan and secret documents of the special state archive of the Shymkent City Police
Department,it focuses on the sufferings of the mulls of our region who were subjected to political
repression.
