Abstract

The article examines the historical, linguistic, and cultural significance of the medieval military treatise «Munyat al-Ghuzat», written during the Mamluk-Kipchak period. The study of medieval military history and the linguistic heritage of the Turkic peoples remains one of the relevant research directions in modern Turkology. From this perspective, written monuments produced in the Mamluk-Kipchak period are of particular importance as historical and linguistic sources. In the course of the study, Kipchak-language written monuments are considered an important source for determining the historical and linguistic foundations of the Kazakh language. The lexical units reflecting the military training of the Mamluk-Kipchak period are analyzed. The military vocabulary found in «Munyat al-Ghuzat»is systematized in terms of weapon names, military organization, tactical concepts, and spiritual-social categories, and its continuity with the modern Kazakh language is demonstrated. The article also describes the preservation in modern Kazakh of terminology related to the equipment that ensured the combat readiness of mounted warriors. The views of a number of researchers on the content and linguistic nature of the manuscript are reviewed, and their contributions to the study of this written heritage are highlighted. The article emphasizes the continuity of modern Kazakh military terminology associated with the armament and equipment of mounted soldiers, which ensured their combat readiness.
